We started from Fulton about 0830. We were tied up immediately before lock 3 which showed open gates and a green light when we were ready to cast off. We radioed the lock to ask permission to enter just as a precaution. We were told they were waiting for another boat locking through #2. The boat was Odyssey, coming in from Phoenix.

Once through the lock, they left us behind, but not too far behind. They were considerate to include us in locking down locks 5, 6, 7 & 8.

tied up in Oswego harborWe tied up on the east side of Oswego Harbor a bit north of lock 8. The day was gorgeous with brilliant sun.

This looks like a good spot for an overnight stay - if you get there earlier than Friday as we did.

There are some restaurants close by.

bang! While there, we saw some volunteers reenacting some military drills for a school group.

Because we needed to get back to Cold Spring Harbor early the next day, we turned back south heading to the Phoenix town dock for the night.

When we locked through 7, we were warned that a lock gate was stuck on 6 and a diver had been called to try to clear a log or tree stuck in the lock. This left us tied up for a bit more than an hour while they worked to repair the lock.

The current was strong and not in our favor. We were frequently doing less than 4 mph.
