Considering the strong currents flowing in the rivers/canals, we opted for an earlier departure than last year. We cast off ~0600 for the 9 mile trip back to Cold Spring Harbor. We were going against the current in both the Oswego and the Erie canals so it was uphill all the way. We were generally doing less than 5 mph.

We encountered two 8 person rowing shells as we neared Lake Onondaga. We slowed to minimize our wake as they passed. We wondered if they were in the river merely for a change of scenary since it seemed calm enough that the lake would not have been rough.

The last day's voyage is dedicated to packing and cleaning the boat after breakfast. This way we were nearly ready to unload the boat as soon as we docked. The contract calls for us to be off the boat by 0900, and we managed to make the deadline. We didn't see any fleet-mates on our way from the east; they must have spent the night in or near Baldwinsville.

As last year, we finished our week's charter relaxed and in good spirits having had a great time.

Today we traveled 9 miles - back to reality.
